Throwback to Prom!

Hey there,

It's definitely been a while since I've updated my little slice of the Internet -  life has just completely taken over! I just can't believe how time is whizzing by and it feels like ages since prom season...crazy right?! I jumped at the chance to attend my school prom this year, to celebrate an era - the perfect reason to pamper yourself with sparkles and extensions and dress to impress...

Prom season has always been the most exciting time of year for school leaver's. I was lucky enough to be invited by a group of my close friends to prom and of course, I didn't even hesitate to sign up and pay my first deposit! For years I'd been dreaming of this date - any excuse to treat myself to a make-over, but first some serious shopping had to be done...

Shopping for the perfect dress proved to be a stressful procedure, but I couldn't have been happier with my choice. After spending hours on end browsing through endless ball gowns, from long and flowing to short and sparkly, I found the perfect dress. A mad dash round the shops for accessories was desperately needed, but you can't go wrong with a bit of sparkle!

Time was fast approaching us and before I knew it, I was singing away in the back of our mini-bus speeding past the heavy traffic in London. Our chauffeur had  dropped us right outside and I couldn't believe the sheer size of the venue - it was incredible! The building was absolutely mesmerizing and everyone looked stunning! Couples were queuing up for photos on the red carpet, sipping bucks fizz from classy champagne glasses. Camera flashes were everywhere and everyone was buzzing from the excitement!

Drinks were being downed by the gallon and it's safe to say everyone had a great night - even the teachers were dancing. Everyone looked stunning in their ball gowns and this evening is definitely mt favourite unforgettable memory!

Let me know your favourite prom moments in the comments below!

The British Tag

Hey there,

It's been way too long since I last updated my blog, but fear no more I am back - here in the flesh, tapping away my keyboard! Recently, I've been rushed off my feet with one thing and another so have had no time to spare for my little slice of the Internet. More importantly, I've been hidden away with my head in a book for what seems like eternity - how I've missed catching up with my favourite authors!

Unless you've been hidden under a rock, you'll have noticed that everyone seems to be significantly happier - thanks to these longer days and perfect sunshine! Not quite short wearing weather yet, but just enough to expose a little bit of leg. I can't help but daydream for summer to arrive, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to take part in...

1. How many cups of tea a day do you have? How many sugars?

I'll be honest, I'm not a huge tea fan - I'm more of a coffee drinker. If I'm not tucked away with my favourite book, then I'm most probably sat in Starbucks treating myself to a frothy coffee. Most days I'll get through 2 cups of coffee with just the one sugar. I'm already sweet enough - cue the cringe!

2. Favourite part of your roast?

Hands down, it just has to be roast potatoes. No Sunday dinner would be complete without a handful of crispy spuds - seasoned with just enough herbs to make your mouth water.

3. Favourite dunking biscuit?

Definitely a tough one to answer, but I do love a good Bourbon. For something a bit more fancy, I'll never say no to a rich tea biscuit.

4. Favourite quintessentially British pastime?

A monthly trip to London has always been on my checklist. Visiting landmarks and joining the local hustle and bustle is definitely something to admire about Britain - I just can't get enough of London!

5. Favourite word?

Bollocks - not the most pleasant of British words, but I'm forever catching myself saying it whenever I make a balls-up of something. Definitely brings the common side out of me!

6. Cockney rhyming slang?

Fortunately, I've had the privilege of being brought up by a former East-end father. I've always been fascinated by the language and love learning new phrases too!

7. Favourite sweet?

You just can't beat a lemon sherbet. Definitely popular in the UK and I just can't get enough of them!

8. What would your pub be called?

Tough question I think - I've never been a creative one myself. British pubs always seem to be named after monarchs, so I guess mine would be have to be dedicated to the royals.

9. No.1 British person?

Hands down, Michael McIntyre! Enough said really - he's just so down to earth and never fails to make me giggle.

10. Favourite Shop/Restaurant?

I've always been a big fan of the Harvester - that's one place I'm well known for! I do love a good pie and mash meal and I've always taken advantage of my local cafe too. Guess I'm just a food fanatic!

11. What British song pops into your head?

I wouldn't be British if I didn't mention our anthem. Known all over the world and something I'll never forget the words to. Can't beat a good ol' classic of Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley! That's definitely one to be saved for flashing those moves in your bedroom!

12. Marmite?

I'll admit I've never been a huge fan of marmite. They say you either love it or hate it, but I think I'm definitely an exception. If I'm in a rush, marmite on toast is the way to go!

Worth giving a go? I think so - I challenge all of you reading this to take part in the British Tag!

The Me-Time Tag

Hey there!

During my lunch breaks at work, I love to scroll through my favourite blogs, brainstorm ideas for future posts and publish new content onto my little space of the Internet. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to be tagged to write this blog post by Danielle. Last month, during the Christmas holidays, I spent endless hours munching on mountains of unhealthy snacks, mastering how to be the best couch potato, never wanting to leave my fluffy blanket. Therefore, I felt it was the perfect time to do this!

What do you read or watch during me-time?

During me-time, I like to settle down in my pyjama's with my frothy, hot chocolate watching back-to-back videos starring my favourite YouTubers. I rarely ever watch TV series and don't settle for just one book. I'm an avid Internet fan, so there's nothing better than to catch up with my most loved Internet sensations!

What do you wear during me-time?

I alternate between pyjamas and my slouchy clothes - definitely paired up with some cute, fluffy socks. I've never been a fan of tracksuits, so usually I wear leggings and a baggy top, but most of the day I lounge around in my Bambi nightwear - how cute!

What are your me-time beauty products?

During me-time I prefer not to smother myself with any beauty products. I love to lounge around with my hair shoved up in a messy bun and a face free of any make-up. There's no point making any effort if you have no-one to impress. However, I do love a nice bubble bath during the day and am a huge fan of LUSH products - my favourite being The Comforter. They always make me smell clean and fresh, leaving my skin feel smooth, which relaxes me a lot!

Current favourite nail polish?

I don't particularly have a favourite nail polish at the moment. I haven't had a lot of time to pain my nails recently as I've been hard at work. I've always been in love with Barry M's nail varnish - I'm always impressed with the quality of these and never disappointed with the colour selection!

What do you eat or drink during me-time?

I'm not a huge fan of sweet food - I'd much rather a bag of cheese puffs than a slice of chocolate cake. My favourite snack to munch on during me-time is a big plate of potato wedges - not forgetting the ketchup! I can't resist making myself a hot chocolate piled high with marshmallows and whipped cream - the perfect way to treat yourself...

Do you ever have outdoor me-time?

I love to go on long walks during a summer's evening. I enjoy my own company, especially when I'm outdoors, embracing the setting of the sun with my favourite tunes, observing the rest of the world. I miss the outdoors when the weather gets colder, but I'd rather snuggle with a classic film, rather than battling the bitter wind.

Current favourite candle?

It's almost impossible to fall in love with candles when you're a blogger - the temptation to buy the entire Yankee store is just too much! I am absolutely loving the 'Snow in Love' Yankee candles at the moment - they're just so refreshing. I bought myself some tea lights to place around my bath during the Winter and I can assure you, I was not disappointed!

Would you ever go and see a movie alone?

I doubt I would, I'm lucky that my friends share the same taste in films. We've always made the effort to go in one big group - I think I'd be too awkward asking for a single ticket for the cinema at the cash point!

Anything else to add? What else do you like to do during me-time?

I love to spend days alone in Central London - my favourite place to travel. I love the buzzing atmosphere of busy shoppers and admire their determination to push their way through the crowds. Growing up, I've always been inspired by my dad's photography and spent a lot of my time practising some techniques. When I get the opportunity to take a trip up to London, I make sure I capture the moments where I feel most at ease!

I challenge anyone reading this to try out the me-time tag and make a post on their little slice of the Internet.

MAY ROUNDUP...

Hey there!

It's the end of another busy month and the start of a fresh one! So much has happened in the past few weeks and it's all been so exciting. I can't believe how quick this has come and gone, but the weather is getting warmer and everyone seems much happier! Summer always gets me going, motivating me to get out of bed and embrace the sun, meaning more things to blog about. May was an eventful month - full of exams, revision, relief, relaxation and celebration!

YouTube Announcement!

Hey there!

For a good, solid couple of months now, I have been so desperately wanting to make my own YouTube channel to upload vlogs and weekly videos to. Its always been a passion of mine and I have always been inspired by my favourite YouTubers, who I am often mentioning on my blog and just admire how confidently they speak to all their viewers. However, the idea of making my own channel didn't come from them, it was simply based on a number of different bloggers. It's nice to sit and watch people making videos, not because they have to or to impress their viewers, but for themselves!

It wasn't until the other day that I decided that it was time to face the camera! I'd been hiding from it for too long, wasting away the days and there was no way I would let this continue. I thought this would be a great idea for my blog, an alternative way to interact with my viewers. My own personal space to upload anything I feel worth sharing - daily updates, trips out and hauls.

For my first vlog, I decided to film in my favourite place - LONDON! If you fancy following me on my travels and supporting me with my YouTube channel or if you're just a generally nosy person, then you can take a look here:

Apologies if the music is too loud or the editing isn't smooth enough - bare with, this is my first vlog! It took a lot of courage to upload myself to the Internet, but I am happy with the outcome and all the hard efforts were worth it.

Here's my channel if you fancy giving it a cheeky subscribe to help support me:

Thanks for watching! Xxx

APRIL ROUNDUP...

Hey there!

I know we're already 5 days into May, but I thought I'd reflect back on what happened in April. If you're as nosy as me and love hearing what people get up to outside of blogging, then hopefully you'll love this!

It's safe to say, despite the fact that this month was meant to be a quiet one, leading up to my exams, I managed to cram a lot in - including trips to the capital city, a new lifestyle change and some friendly gatherings! Not expecting anything too exciting next month and blog posts will be seriously lacking, so apologies in advance. but exams start next week and I'm so unprepared!

Wish me luck! Xxx

Life Update: London Lassie

Hey there!

As a follow up from the last post, I thought I'd share my experiences from my day out in London. Luckily for me, the capital city is only a short train ride away from my hometown, so at any given opportunity, I'm there! London always excites me, I just get so caught up in the buzzing atmosphere, especially when the day comes to a close and the buildings light up!

I was well equipped for my journey to London with an ice cold bottle of water and Heat magazine, starting the day catching up on this weeks hottest celebrity news! After a rather pleasant train ride, we hopped off at London Bridge and I just couldn't resist capturing a picture of the Shard - forever feeling like a tourist!

Into the Underground we went, packed tightly together like sardines - the only acceptable time to be face-to-face, nose touchingly close to a stranger! Our first trip was to the Monument - built to commemorate the Great Fire of London. A tough climb for someone that doesn't do a lot of exercise, with a 311 step trek to the top! The scenic view makes it all worthwhile, as you tower high above the city of London. It's not often you manage to capture two famous landmarks in one picture! I even managed to take a few selfies, despite the wind blowing in my face.

No trip to London is complete without some sightseeing, so next stop was St. Paul's Cathedral! Passing through the busy streets, dodging all the tourists, I realised not once have I ever appreciated this building. Standing in the cathedral grounds, I noticed how intricately designed it was and pictured the many workers it must have took to create this spectacular landmark. After many snapshots and much amazement, we continued on our travels! As we crossed the Millennium Bridge, counting the padlocks along the way, the famous Shakespearean Globe Theatre came into view. Yet another building I had not come across in London before. Fun fact: the Globe Theatre is the only building in London to be made with a thatched roof!

To continue our cultural trip, we visited the Tate Gallery! I'm not a massive fan of artwork, nor did I ever enjoy art in school, but I'm always intrigued at how artists manage to interpret different aspects in life and portray them in such creative ways - something I've always found impossible! Picasso has always been a favourite artist of mine and I spent a while pondering over his artwork and appreciating his talent. However, other artists left me speechless, and I didn't understand the logic in their 'works of art'... It was certainly an experience!

After all this excitement, I had worked up a rather large appetite! We'd been so busy and eaten not even a morsel, that there was no way we could avoid food. In-fact, we'd been so occupied that we'd managed to skip lunch! We treated ourselves to a much deserved McDonald's and I was pleasantly surprised that they had vegetarian options. I would definitely recommend the Spicy Veggie Wrap to any vegetarian readers and non-vegetarians, it was just that good. Finishing off with a free Monopoly Instant Win Toffee Sundae - so worth it!

The last visit of the day was to Ripley's Believe It Or Not museum. I'd never really considered the museum before and had always by-passed it when in London, but it was a great experience. Full of surprises and some real eye openers - from the World's Tallest Man, (featured below,) to the World's Heaviest Woman and my personal favourite Lizard-man! All his life he'd been a street artist and wanted to express this in his own being, so transformed himself into a reptile. Time flew by in the museum and somehow we'd spent 3/30 hours there!

But that's not where the excitement ends! For the train journey home, I treated myself to a Mars Bar, but when I opened it something caught my eye. 'Congratulations, you've won a free bar!' I've never won a competition before, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to have received this lucky treat. I could not believe it - such a great ending to the day!

Bye for now! Xxx

What's In My Bag? - London Essentials

Hey there!

A popular post I have seen recently, especially among beauty bloggers, is 'What's In My Bag?' and after reading Barb's post in her mini series, I was inspired to write my own! Living so close to London always has its perks and I am forever travelling by train during my holidays to the capital city, to see what new bargains I can find. This Easter break, my family and I spent the day up London - sightseeing, weaving in and out of tourists and generally just enjoying the buzzing atmosphere, which can be seen here. But no trip is complete without your essentials to get you through the day! I chose my summery, coral handbag to carry them about in, which can be a pain to search around, but can fit all my essentials in!

Magazine - no train journey is complete without the latest celebrity gossip to catch up on! Not forgetting the crossword puzzles and horoscope at the back to keep you entertained.

Tube Map - often the hustle and bustle takes over London and makes it difficult to read the signs for the Tube Map. I like to keep my own personal one in my bag so I can access it whenever I want.

iPod - music makes everything better! Lifts the mood, drowns out your thoughts and keeps you company when you're alone. I take my iPod everywhere with me and have a playlist for pretty much everything - spring/summer, autumn/winter, workout...

Make-Up Essentials - one thing you'll never see me without is my make-up! I don't have a reason for carrying it about, sometimes I don't even use it, but you can never be too sure...

Sunnies - England has surprised us all with a few outbursts of sun this spring! Around this time, I am always known to be carrying around my sunglasses - either wearing them on my head as a fashion statement or protecting my eyes from the blinding light rays!

Hand-sanitiser - you can never be too sure of the cleanliness around London and germs are quickly spread. Therefore, I am always carrying around my sanitiser to refresh my hands and maintain my hygiene!

Hairbrush - standing around on Tube platforms can often get windy, a worst nightmare to girl's with long, curly hair like mine, that tangles easily! Although my hairbrush can be a pain to carry about, it's always a must!

Mints -  I often worry how my breath smells during the day when I'm travelling around London, especially after a meal out and there's no harm in freshening up your breath once in a while - nothing a pack of mints can't sort out.

What's your top essentials to take with you on a trip out?

Bye for now! Xxx
