#21 Blogmas - Favourite Christmas Picture/Poem

Hey there!

It's definitely been a long while since I've posted content for my Blogmas series - shame on me! I've just been so busy, rushing around trying to get myself organised for Christmas - last minute shopping sprees, late night christmas marathons and tying the last ribbons on my christmas gifts! I'm always in a pickle the last week before Christmas, so apologies for the lack of blog posts!

Nevertheless, despite my manic rush to try and get things ready in time for Christmas Day, I look forward to this festive event every year. Not even the cold, bitter evenings or the winter bugs that spread during December can ruin my excitement for Christmas. I've even bought myself a little treat this year - Christmas Yankee candles of course!

#21 Blogmas - Favourite Christmas Tune

Ever since I was a young girl, I've always been a huge fan of poetry. I just loved the art of writing it and admired those who's talent I had the pleasure of reading. However, nothing really springs to mind when I picture my favourite Christmas image or poem. Therefore, I decided to choose a famous festive tune instead - Jingle Bells!

Unless you've been living under a rock, I'm sure you're all familiar with this festive little tune at Christmas! Growing up, I would listen to this song continuously on repeat for hours - always a song that puts me in the festive spirit. Hanging proudly from my Christmas tree are a pair of shiny, jingle bells, reminding me of the magic that Christmas has to bring!

Bye for now! Xxx

#6 Blogmas - When Do You Open Presents

Hey there!

Christmas Day has always been hugely celebrated in my family with Christmas traditions and festive films, trips to the church singing our most-loved hymns and stocking ourselves up with plenty of Christmas treats! Such a pleasant time of year to visit the whole family, sharing festive snacks and gifts together, despite the cold weather!

Living with a younger brother gives me a great excuse to embrace the child in me! We all make an effort to keep the magic alive - leaving an offering of milk, biscuits and a carrot on Christmas Eve. Finishing the evening with a Christmas film, hot chocolate, eagerly counting down the hours until CHRISTMAS - my favourite part!

#6 - When Do You Open Presents

Usually on Christmas morning, I am sprung upon by my brother at an unearthly hour, to wish me a merry Christmas - believe it or not, I actually enjoy being woken up like this! I love seeing the excitement on my brother's face, as he lunges onto me. We cautiously tip-toe downstairs, dragging our stockings behind us, trying our best not to wake Mum and Dad up.

Before opening our gifts, we always light our Christingles from the church service and place them on our window sill, to add an extra glow to the room! We all gather around the Christmas tree and take a family photo in our Christmas jumpers - a tradition I will never forget. A tub of Roses is passed around to munch on and then the fun begins! Everyone plunges straight into their sacks, head first to retrieve their presents. 2 hours later and we're stuffed full of chocolate, surrounded by endless piles of wrapping paper and ribbons!

If you liked my first day of Blogmas, I would recommend you challenge yourself to this festive tag - it would be nice to read some of your posts!

#1 Blogmas - Favourite Christmas Tradition

Hey there!

I can't believe it's the 1st December already - how time flies! The countdown to Christmas begins, starting with a treat from my advent calendar. Still lacking on the Christmas presents, but that's no surprise - it happens every year! Last week, I challenged myself to Blogmas and today marks the beginning of a very busy, jolly month...

#1 My Favourite Christmas Tradition

For me, Christmas has always been about spending quality time with the family, singing carols until our hearts content and munching away on yummy treats without a care in the until you're about to explode. I, especially love the extra efforts that everybody makes to maintain the festive spirit, despite the fact the magic has vanished!

Growing up, I spent my Sunday mornings at the local children's club at my church - learning about the Bible stories and following Christianity. As a perk during the festive season, we celebrated Christmas with a Nativity play. I loved to show off and make my parents proud, so this was all very exciting! Every year I volunteered to play the part of Gabrielle - dressed from head to toe in a white bed sheet. I still remember the butterflies I had backstage before the performance, but I will never forget how important I felt to carry that gold star confidently through the congregation - embracing the attention!

Despite the fact I've grown too old to take part in this, my family still visit the local church to participate in the Christingle service and sing those typical festive hymns. I cherish these moments dearly, as we join hands and gaze at the dazzling Christmas tree. My favourite part of the service that always sparks my excitement at Christmas is when the lights are dimmed, the candles are lit and 'Silent Night' echoes throughout the church. What a great way to start Christmas!

What's your family tradition at Christmas?
