#14 Blogmas - Favourite Childhood Christmas Memory

Hey there!

It's safe to say I've fallen extremely far behind with my Blogmas posts this year! Despite the cold weather, I decided to brave the shops to hunt down my Christmas gifts - a task I should have completed way before December. Somehow, I seem to get so caught up in the Christmas spirit, dancing away to festive songs and spending my evenings watching back-to-back festive films, that I completely forget about my Christmas shopping. This weekend was a challenge, but I can officially say I am well and truly ready for the Christmas Day!

Alongside weaving my way in-between the hustle and bustle of busy shoppers making their last minute trips out before Christmas, despite the bad weather, I've been busy writing Christmas cards, making trips to see old friends and spending some quality time with my family - hence the lack of blog posts.

#14 Blogmas - Favourite Childhood Christmas Memory

Ever since I can remember, Christmas has always been my favourite holiday - plenty of excuses to express my inner child! Growing up, my family and I have always made a huge effort at Christmas to keep the magic alive. There was always some nibbles and a glass of milk left on the table the night before Christmas and an array of tinsel hanging all around the house.

As a child, the countdown to Christmas was always magical - every year I'd make a special trip to Father Christmas, cherishing every minute I had with him! The week before Christmas was always my favourite - I'd sit eagerly waiting at my window, ensuring I was in earshot of the Christmas float, before dashing out to greet Father Christmas at the door. I can assure you I was never disappointed!

#6 Blogmas - When Do You Open Presents

Hey there!

Christmas Day has always been hugely celebrated in my family with Christmas traditions and festive films, trips to the church singing our most-loved hymns and stocking ourselves up with plenty of Christmas treats! Such a pleasant time of year to visit the whole family, sharing festive snacks and gifts together, despite the cold weather!

Living with a younger brother gives me a great excuse to embrace the child in me! We all make an effort to keep the magic alive - leaving an offering of milk, biscuits and a carrot on Christmas Eve. Finishing the evening with a Christmas film, hot chocolate, eagerly counting down the hours until CHRISTMAS - my favourite part!

#6 - When Do You Open Presents

Usually on Christmas morning, I am sprung upon by my brother at an unearthly hour, to wish me a merry Christmas - believe it or not, I actually enjoy being woken up like this! I love seeing the excitement on my brother's face, as he lunges onto me. We cautiously tip-toe downstairs, dragging our stockings behind us, trying our best not to wake Mum and Dad up.

Before opening our gifts, we always light our Christingles from the church service and place them on our window sill, to add an extra glow to the room! We all gather around the Christmas tree and take a family photo in our Christmas jumpers - a tradition I will never forget. A tub of Roses is passed around to munch on and then the fun begins! Everyone plunges straight into their sacks, head first to retrieve their presents. 2 hours later and we're stuffed full of chocolate, surrounded by endless piles of wrapping paper and ribbons!

#2 Blogmas - What Christmas Means to Me

Hey there!

Christmas is soon approaching us and the festive lights are slowly illuminating the streets, decorating the rooftops with Christmas cheer! People constantly bustling around the shops, armed with bags - the atmosphere buzzing with excitement! As a non-believer, I have very different opinions  about the meaning of Christmas compared to those with religious commitments. However, I respect their views and embrace their celebrations during this joyous occasion!

#2 What Christmas Means To Me

Read on to discover my ideas of what Christmas means to me:

amily

As mentioned in my previous post, I've always surrounded myself with family and close friends at Christmas. I treasure these moments dearly, as everyone gathers round together to share this festive celebration! Being a busy teenager with a heavy-load at work and a huge social life, I rarely have any spare time to share with my parents. Therefore, Christmas is the perfect time to spend quality time with your loved ones, embracing their company!

Food

No time to worry about food babies or growing a slight tummy over Christmas. How can you resist a steamy roast dinner on a day like this? My mum is the queen of the kitchen - hurrying around, knee deep in saucepans, preparing our delicious roast. Trust me, she cooks to perfection! It's almost impossible to watch a Christmas film without a tub of Roses resting on your lap. No stocking is complete without a candy cane hanging out the top  and you can't forget to decorate the Christmas tree with an endless supply of chocolate treats!

Giving

I love to spoil my family with an array of presents. There's no better feeling than to watch your loved ones slowly untie the ribbon and tear the wrapping paper open to reveal your gift - it's a warm glow I'll never forget!
