My Adventures in Hospital 02/03/15

Hey there,

It's definitely been a while since I've updated my little slice of the Internet  and to be honest, I can't apologize enough! How I've missed eagerly tapping away at my keyboard, frantically spewing out the contents of brain onto my blog for all you nosy viewers to read!

I'm not asking for sympathy, but I can assure you last week was not an easy ride! You may think I'm making a big fuss out of nothing, but I've never been a huge fan of hospitals. Always full of disappointments, bad news and don't even get me started on the smell!

For over a year now, I have been wearing a brace - pretty obvious if you've seen my countless number of photos, (a girl can never have too many selfies!) Just recently I've found a new attachment to it and can't bare to part with it yet. However, as much as I love my braces, I do not enjoy the tedious trips to the hospital with dentists towering over me peering inside my mouth - too close for comfort!

But it doesn't just stop at the braces - oh no, my case is a lot more complicated than you may think! A couple of months ago, I was hit with the news that my jaw appeared to be slightly asymmetrical. At the time I remained quiet, yet calm, confident that it was nothing too serious. That was until they told me it meant I'd have to have my jaw realigned to prevent any problems in the future - definitely not something I was prepared for!

Last week was the first initial step towards the end result and I'll admit I was definitely unprepared for what was yet to happen. Surrounded by patients in a hospital bed nervously waiting to be called in for my wisdom teeth to be removed was not my idea of fun!

Nevertheless, despite all the nerves I had been suppressing for hours on end, I couldn't resist whipping my camera out to pose for my outfit of the day - the typical hospital gown, (how attractive!)

Fortunately, I am back to my usual, perky self again and will be posting regularly on my blog again, so you won't have to miss me too much!

Bye for now! Xxx

#3 10 Things That Have Made Me Happy This Week

Hey there,

Seriously though, where did January go? I can't believe we've almost whizzed through February too - this year is flying by! I'm proud to say so far that my New Year's Resolutions are yet to be broken and I have high expectations for the rest of this year. Unfortunately, I had a turn for the worst at the start of this week and my fairytale relationship has come to an end. I am determined not to let this bother me and sometimes I think to myself it was a blessing in disguise. Love is a foolish emotion and I'll admit it hasn't been easy, but luckily for me I had the support I needed to make this week a good one!

1. Interacting with new bloggers on Twitter

2. Involving myself with a new group of friends

3. Watching the sun set in the evening from my office.

4. Finally meeting up with a good friend of mine.

5. Spending hours on Skype uncontrollably laughing to myself.

6. Seeing my favourite bands play live at the O2.

7. Forever performing into my hairbrush in front of my mirror, being a diva.

8. Wasting pennies in the arcades.

9. Messing about with my friend's dog.

10. Having a well deserved lie-in on a Sunday.

Bye for now! Xxx

Nessie Here Turns One - 25/01/15

Hey there!

It's a very special moment for my blog today - that's right, my little space of the Internet has officially turned a year old! I can't believe how I've managed to grow my blog in such a short space of time. Ever since I was a young girl, I'd always had a passion for writing - in-fact, I was always top of the class in English. However, I was forever filling notebooks with uncompleted novels and failed every year with my diaries. I find blogging such a therapeutic method of sharing my thoughts and I'm glad you've appreciated my madness at times!

As I've powered through this year, I feel I've picked up a whole range of writing techniques and have learnt so much about myself. Looking back through some of my first ever blog posts, I can't help but cringe at how naive I sounded, but let's face it, we all do it - if we didn't start somewhere, we never would. I consider this to be a big part of my life now and it's a hobby I really enjoy. I'm hoping to further my skills with photography and hope to get creative this year!

To all of my readers - whether you're a friend of mine on Bloglovin', following my social media accounts or generally passing by, thank you so much for taking the time to stop by. I really do appreciate each and every comment that I receive and try to make an effort to respond. It warms my heart knowing that someone will hopefully benefit and care about the content on my blog. It's simply incredible how uploading life stories and unique content can connect a whole range of people together and during 2014 I was lucky enough to meet some wonderful girls!

A letter to myself | This time next year...

Hey there!

Recently life has taken me on a real roller-coaster of events - cliché I know, but seriously if you knew what I've been through in these past couple of weeks, I'm sure you'd agree that it's appropriate. There are so many things holding me back from my ultimate goals I wish to achieve and I hope to overcome them one day. Most  importantly though, I'm determined to stop this constant battle I fight with myself everyday, so focusing on the present is priority!

Vanessa,

One whole year ago today, you wrote this letter to yourself. I hope wherever you may be, that you're laughing at how silly this all sounds right now, knowing that in the past 365 days of last year your life has changed more than it ever has before and you're now a transformed woman. Or maybe I'm just daydreaming again, you know how good I am at that...

I'm writing this to you, almost 2 months into my apprenticeship, sat alone in the cosy little corner of my very own office, remember that? Fingers crossed you haven't messed up in your job and are still sat here 365 days later in a brand new office, knee deep in paperwork, powering through - wow, I'm happy for you!

How did you cope with last year's New Year's resolutions? You better not have let me down, I'm counting on you to do well! You better have shed that weight you've promised me you'd lose since forever? I hope you're not still binging on chocolate and any other greasy temptations you can find? I hope that jerk of yours last year has become a man and is treating you well - I'm really praying you finally work out!

You're a legal adult too and I bet you still haven't bothered with driving lessons...*rolls eyes* I'm not surprised, you've always been a professional procrastinator, but I hope this time you've surprised me!

Anyway I better be off, I've done way too much procrastinating at work already today...

Bye for now! Xxx

Top 5 Blog Posts of 2014

Hey there!

I find the best way to start New Year off is to reflect upon the year just gone! It's incredible just how quickly things change in such a short space of time - new friendships, new beginnings and new perspectives on life! 2014 for me was definitely a great year, but this year I plan to do even better! If you wish to see how I'm planning on achieving this, check out my list of new year's resolutions here.

2014 really inspired me to continue writing content on my blog, sparking off a bunch of different ides to share with you ranging from trips out in London, blogging tips, various tags, finishing the year with a poor attempt at Blogmas!

To start the year off, I thought I'd share with you my Top 5 posts from 2014...

1. Liebster Award - last year I was lucky enough to receive a special award for my blog from a close friend of mine. I suggest you all go check out her blog, I'm sure you won't be disappointed! I was so proud of myself for successfully achieving this on my little slice of the Internet and am thankful for all your support over the past year!

2. YouTube Announcment - as mentioned above, new years bring about new beginnings. 2014 was the year I grew my confidence and branched out into the vlogging world. I'd been inspired by a number of successful YouTubers and got caught up in my friend's media filming too. I started making an effort with my own channel and vlogged a number of days during the Summer, which you can watch here.  Let me know what you think.

3. Life Update: EXCITING NEWS! - 2014 also welcomed in the use of a new social media, Twitter! I've always been a fan of Twitter and love to write a few tweets now and then. I'd never thought about linking Twitter to my blog, but as my content increased and comments started appearing in response to my posts, I thought this would be a great idea to interact with a bunch of you! I've never looked back since then and I appreciate every single tweet I receive.

4. Top 20 Blog Post Ideas... - a common case of writer's block strikes down upon us bloggers sometimes and it's often difficult to create new ideas to entertain our readers with. Starting the year with a list of ideas to prevent writer's block is a brilliant idea and it seems you thought this post was useful too!

5. Becoming a Better Blogger! - filling a planner with an organised blogging schedule is another brilliant idea to consider. Sometimes, it can be extremely difficult to stick to, especially when life takes over. However, if you find yourself in a muddle, this will soon sort your lack of blog posts out!

What post did you enioy the most? What would you like to see next on my blog?

Life Update: Twitter Time!

Hey there!

Goodbye exams and hello social life! After spending the last 2 months revising and stressing for my AS exams, the half term is finally here! Welcoming in the sunshine and a well deserved rest...Finally, I am free from everything school related, (until my last 2 exams,) and can start to enjoy my life. Back to the late night deep conversations, lie ins until midday, pyjama days and just generally allowing myself some 'me time'. That means more time to go shopping, take photos, see friends and blog to my hearts content. So apologies for the lack in uploads recently, but I'm back and bursting with creativity for more blog posts - starting with some news!

No matter how many blog related sites I follow my favourite bloggers on, I still manage to miss their most recent posts, which can become frustrating, especially as I'm a particularly nosy person and hate missing out! So I finally managed to find time to set up a Twitter account for my blog. I thought this would be a great way to update you on new posts, post links to my favourite fashion/beauty sites and anything I find interesting, write quirky quotes that pop in my head and most importantly, to interact with all of you!
